The Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Award in business has been designed to provide a stimulating and engaging introduction to the world of business. Additionally, it provides a good foundation for post 16 education, as well as bringing together learning at levels 1 and 2 to ensure that every learner taking the qualification completes to build on a later date.
The core units cover the fundamental knowledge and skills required in the business world. The optional specialist units cover a diverse range of areas, such as branding and promotion, customer service, retail business, recruitment and career development, sales and business support.

Additionally, the qualification provides opportunities for learners to develop communication skills needed for working in the business sector, as they progress through the course. This can be achieved through presentations and in discussions where students are given the opportunity to express their opinions.
Achievement at Level 2 provides the fundamentals for further study, within the sector through progression on to other vocational qualifications at Level 3, such as the Pearson BTEC Level 3 National in Business.
