As part of our School Travel Plan we have a number of Youth Travel Ambassadors who are leading different initiatives and are doing a fantastic job.
An Ambassador's update on activities so far,
“The Youth Travel Ambassadors have been giving presentations to the students of The Jubilee Academy about responsible travel on buses.
I have been working with the other Youth Travel Ambassadors to raise awareness of
anti-social behaviour on public buses, to make bus travel more enjoyable for everyone. Also we have launched a competition for the students at the Academy to produce a design of an oyster card case. The winner will have their card design printed for all of the students at the school and the case will be shown on the school website.
The assemblies, which were watched by years 9-11, informed the students about what they could do if they experienced any anti-social behaviour by texting the number 61016 or by calling 101. The students also participated in doing some quizzes on how to stay safe on a bus and learning facts such as how 71% of 16-24 year olds choose not to take the bus sometimes because of anti-social behaviour.
Overall, the project was a great success for the students. As a result, the Youth Travel Ambassadors are looking to do a further project next term.”
